Once a cart gets large, the percentage on your coupon matters less than how the order is put together. Exclusions, caps and thresholds interact in ways that can leave a 40% code delivering a fraction of what you expected.

Separate eligible from excluded items
Percentage coupons are frequently capped at a maximum discount amount and exclude already-reduced products. In a big mixed cart, those excluded items pad the subtotal without contributing any discount. Work out which items your code actually applies to, then consider putting the excluded ones in their own order where a threshold coupon or lightning pricing can do the work instead.
Watch the discount cap
A 40% code capped at a fixed maximum behaves like a flat-value coupon once your cart passes a certain size. Past that point, adding more to the same order gains you nothing from the code — a second order with a second offer may be worth more than one giant one.

Then check the adjustment window
On a large order, price movements are likely on at least one item. Check prices a few days later and claim the difference where it has dropped; on big carts this often recovers more than the coupon did.
FAQ
Is it better to split a large Temu order?
Sometimes, yes — particularly when a discount cap means extra items add no further saving.
Do bigger carts unlock better coupons?
They unlock thresholds, but the discount is usually capped. Bigger is not automatically better.
